Midfielder Sally Menti Nominated for Goal of the Week

Seattle Reign FC midfielder Sally Menti has been nominated for NWSL Goal of the Week. Menti earned her first-ever goal and Goal of the Week nomination for her 67th minute strike against San Diego Wave FC on Friday.

After a tense and scoreless first half, the Seattle native found her way onto the scoresheet with a stunning shot from outside the 18-yard-box in just her second career appearance and first-ever start.

Leading up to the goal, the Reign strung together a series of patient passes to lure San Diego in, before veteran defender Lauren Barnes played a simple pass to the feet of Menti. Menti made no mistakes as she took a confident touch to set up her right-footed shot and send it sailing through the air to the far post, leaving goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan no chance to save it.

Menti is nominated for Goal of the Week alongside Chicago’s Ally Schlegel, Louisville’s Emma Sears and North Carolina's Manaka Matsukubo.
